Like a Star @ heaven Congratulations, everyone. I decided to choose the theme of this by going to Wikipedia and using it's featured article in the History section. Which was Jack the Ripper. The warning is for that Jack the Ripper had some...interesting ways in mind on how to murder someone. And that will be talked about. Your character is allowed to ask questions by raising their hand. "Interesting..." Turning to the older man, near him, Aldrick Meissner contemplated his words for a few seconds "We'll be beginning soon, Prof. Welsh" The man, in his early sixties, nodded "And this will be 90 minutes long..."

"Of course,we have nothing else planned for the day, so feel free to take some extra time" Aldrick smiled slightly, the professor's warm demeanor growing on him. "Thank you, I'll go get my textbooks now, if you'll excuse me" Prof. Welsh gave a polite nod, before leaving the large room to his bag, which he had left in Aldrick's office. They had talked for a while before Aldrick showed him the Debate Room.

When the Professor left, Aldrick allowed himself a slight shiver, in anticipation. He found the lectures interesting more often than not, and Prof. Welsh was an expert on an unusual subject; Jack the Ripper, an English serial killer from the late 1880s. Not to mention that he knew a quite a bit of English history, but they had decided together that a more mature theme to the lecture would offset the history lectures that were more for aspiring historians, and therefore had fewer visitor, than say, the Holocaust. It seemed that people preferred the more gruesome events in history. The registration list was almost full.

Alfred stood outside the debate room. He couldn't decide if showing up early for the lecture was a good thing, or a bad thing. What if they told him to come back outside? Besides he'd rather make a grand entrance... like right before the speaking actually began. Then all eyes would fall on him for just a second, he'd apologize and wouldn't be called nerdy for grabbing one of the only left open seats in the front. ...yeah that's how he'd do it....

Eagerness getting the better of him Alfred all but threw the doors open walking into the debate room. He was a little disappointed to see so few of people, but... oh well. "Hey," he called, "what exactly what this lecture about again?"

It probably would have been useful before signing up to actually look at what was being hosted today. It could hardly be boring though... right? Especially if was about the United States. Oh he hoped it was about the United States. "You giving the lecture? I'm Alfred Jones, nice to meet ya," he said walking to the only person currently standing in the front of the room.

Arista hurried to the debate room, excited. She felt a bit like a student again, which is something she enjoyed and so she had no problem with it. She loved learning; of all kinds, on all sorts of things. And Jack the Ripper was a fascinating topic, even if she hadn't studied much about him before. Who knows, mayber if this lecture was good enough she'd look into him -or her- more.

She checked to make sure she had her notepad, a pen, an extra pen, a highlighter, and her pager before going into the debate room, nodding at Aldrick. She took a seat at the front of the room, uncapping her pen in anticipation.

“Hello,” Francis greeted along with a friendly smile to everyone present as he entered the debate room. After doing a quick scan of the space, he approached one of the seats, not quite at the front, but still close enough for him to clearly hear and see the lecturer, whoever he or she may be. He took out a note pad and pen from his coat pocket.

Jack the Ripper. Francis smiled as he re-read what he had written on the note pad. He had done some research on the infamous historical figure from England’s Victorian era, and he was all but fascinated with the information he had found. Sure, it wasn’t about his beloved France, though learning about the story and workings of a mysterious killer would certainly be interesting.

He had signed up for the history lecture mostly for a change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the cafe, though he now found himself anticipating the start of the lecture, hand gripping his pen and unconsciously poised ready to take notes.

Ah,people. People he knew, actually, though somewhat vaguely. He waved them in casually, shaking the hand of the man who had approached him. "Aldrick Meissner, good to meet you. I'm the manager of the Debate Room, meaning I organize events like these. Today's debate is about Jack the Ripper, a unique serial killer from England" He informed the American. Addressing both Alfred and the occupants of the room, he stated that the speaker would be here shortly, having left earlier to fetch an item for the lecture.

"While I have the chance to speak" Aldrick said crisply "I'm sure all of you understand the basic rules of conduct. Questions are allowed in the manner when you were in school; raise your hand and wait to be called on before proceeding with the question. Does anyone have any questions concerning the lecture?"

Alfred felt a bit ashamed that he hadn't brought anything to write on. They weren't expected to take notes were they? He grinned at Aldrick quickly excusing himself and grabbing a seat. Hands stuffed themselves in his jacket pockets to make sure he didn't fidget. He was there to learn... though he was put off that the guy was English. Though it would so explain the name, and the fact that he was a serial killer. England just breaded the serial killer types with its rain and stuff right?

He bit the inside of his cheek as the nice debate guy explained the rules. Alfred really wished to ask if taking notes was necessary, but he felt foolish asking. Ah what the hell, Alfred's hand shot into the air, "I've got one, are we going to be quizzed on this? Because I ain't writing down anything," he asked leaving his hand in the air as he did so.

Arista surpressed a smile at the thought of acting as if she were in grade school again. It had been a long time since she had been there, even with having to sit in on some of her son's classes. She pushed those thoughts away, looking over the room. There weren't a lot of people here...Must have been disappointing for Aldrick.

Especially with the questions some people were asking. She stared at the blonde haired man with the glasses, tilting her head to the side. Just because they were being treated like this was grade school didn't mean it actually was grade school. They weren't going to be quized on this information, it was just a lecture to get the information out there.
