Work Work Work [Aldrick & Arista]

Arista yawned, frowning as she stared into the reflexive surface of the refridgerator in the staff room. The circles under her eyes had circles of their own, and her hair was frizzed beyond belief. The museum had gotten some new artifacts to display and she had been up ever since cataloguing them and making sure they were in the condition they were suppose to be and that they would be safe. She should still be doing that; but after messing up yet another piece of paper work due to her lack of rest, she knew that she needed to take a small break. But she hadn't realized just how she looked...the people she had walked past on her way her must have thought her insane.

Taking a deep breath, Arista turned to the coffee machine and turned it on, surpressing a yawn. She was shaking slightly, she noted, lifting her hand and watching it tremble. She should probably go home...but she needed to finish her work first. Work was much more important. She nodded to herself, grabbing her coffee cup and waiting for the wonderful liquid that would be able to keep her awake for just a little while longer.

Break. A wonderful bit of time where Aldrick would escape the world of incessant emails, and rushed phone calls, and sticky notes stuck to his laptop screen saying 'so and so called saying whatever-something-something'. Well, at least it was better than being a high-profile business man. Now that was...ugh. Standing up from his office chair in his office, Aldrick quickly made his way towards the Staff Room for comfy chair, and something to eat. Staff on break could roam around the museums if they wanted, but most preferred to take a rest in the quiet room, rather than get their headaches worsened by the noise.

Entering the room, he saw his boss, the curator of Das Museum der Naturgeschichte. He gave a polite nod to her, before going to getting a bagel from the counter.

She looked away from the coffee briefly and nodded back at Aldrick, keeping her face politely blank. Inwardly she was cursing herself for not paying more attention to her appearence. Aldrick was one of the hottest men here in her age group, and she was hoping to slowly make him amendable to a night of fun. Looking like crap was not going to help her with this goal. Though most men weren't into older women, especially older women with children. She bit the inside of her cheek, pushing that thought out of her head. She would find someone to stick around eventually; and in the mean time she'd find willing sex partners wherever she could.

Arista looked back to the coffee as it finished, pouring herself a cup and smiling as the scent of pure black coffee reached her. Gods she loved coffee. She took a sip, relishing in the burn before going over to sit in one of the many chairs. As much as she would have loved to sit in one of the comfy chairs, she lowered herself into one of the more uncomfortable ones in an effort to avoid things that were send her to sleep. Still, she relaxed as best she could and contented herself with taking slow sips of her coffee.

"Good afternoon" Aldrick murmured, making himself a cup of tea, sticking the bag of tea leaves in the cup as soon as he poured the hot water in. It would be...impolite not to give this much of acknowledgment to his boss, no? She looked rather stressed; another reason to speak as little as possible. He knew, by experience, that stressed people would easily get angry and then do things that both sides wished didn't happen. So he was quiet, and merely watched the clear water cloud up from the tea as the aroma of peppermint began to rise into the air.

“Good afternoon Aldrick. How are things going for you?” She wondered, letting her eyes slid closed as the smell of peppermint filled the air. Hmm…it smelled really, really good. She liked peppermint; the taste of it, the smell of it…It was very relaxing. She just couldn’t stand the taste of tea, so she often just bought peppermint creamer from the store and put it in her coffee. It wasn’t as good as normal peppermint, since it was so much more artificial, but it was still something so…She pushed these thoughts out of her head and took a sip of her coffee, waiting for his response.
